Motor running but kneading blade not turning?
If your Panasonic bread maker powers on and the motor sounds like it's running, but the dough hook inside the bread pan isn't moving, the drive belt could be the culprit. The belt connects the motor to the main drive pulley and wears out over time — it can stretch, crack, or snap entirely.
This guide covers the replacement process for the Panasonic SD-ZP2000, SD-B2512, and other compatible models that use the same belt.

Panasonic Bread Maker Drive Belt — ADF01E165
This OEM-specification belt fits a range of Panasonic bread maker models including the SD-ZP2000 and SD-B2512. Check the compatibility list on the product page to confirm your model before ordering.
What you'll need
- Phillips screwdriver (medium)
- A clean flat surface to work on
- Optional: a phone or camera to photograph the belt routing before removal
Step-by-step: replacing the drive belt
- Unplug the bread maker from the mains and allow it to cool fully if recently used.
- Remove the bread pan — twist anti-clockwise and lift out. Set it aside.
- Turn the machine upside down on a soft surface to protect the casing.
- Remove the base screws — typically 4–6 Phillips screws around the perimeter of the base panel.
- Lift off the base panel to expose the motor, drive pulley, and belt.
- Photograph the belt routing before touching anything — this makes reassembly straightforward.
- Slip the old belt off the motor pulley first, then off the main drive pulley. If the belt has snapped, simply remove both pieces.
- Fit the new belt — loop it around the main drive pulley first, then stretch it carefully onto the motor pulley. Ensure it sits flat and centred in the pulley grooves.
- Rotate the drive pulley by hand a few times to confirm the belt tracks correctly and doesn't slip or ride up.
- Refit the base panel and all screws.
- Reinstall the bread pan, plug in, and run a short knead cycle to confirm everything is working.
